The Real Face of India

Since 1947, Pakistan and India have fought three wars excluding The Famous Kargil War. It has always seemed to be impossible for India to accept the fact that the Muslims of Sub-continent achieved their independence on the basis of Two Nation Theory and later the fruitless continuous effort of India to accede Pakistan (by fighting three wars) really frustrated the poor Indian Government. Today it will not be groundless to say that the real aspiration of Indians in the Sub-continent is hegemony and not peace at all. India wishes to be the authority in the region and want to counter the growing China economy. In this regard India has been backed by many countries depending on their own vested interests. The activity of India in the contemporary world affairs with out any doubt reminds us of the activities of Lord Clive of East India Company in 1601, When he entered Sub-continent with the purpose of trade with wealth rich India. And soon Sub-continent became the colony of Great Britain for 200 years. India today has the same aspiration. It might not show its true color today but like the English, it will show its color when needed. The recent Mumbai Blasts are also a step forward in obtaining her hegemonic designs.

It’s not only Pakistan which is the victim of India’s Hegemonic designs but countries like Sri Lanka and Bangladesh are also suffering. Let’s take the example of Sri Lanka. India without any doubt has been supporting and offering help of all kinds, be it financial or military, to the Tamils of LTTE? For the last 20 years India has been sympathizing with the Tamils which not only weakened the hold of the government of Sri Lanka but also adversely affected their economy. By helping the Tamils, India created a civil war in Sri Lanka and by doing this they tried to establish their hold with in Sri Lanka which thus in the long run can act as their colony in their final war against Pakistan. And as far as Bangladesh is concerned, India knew it from the very beginning that if Bangladesh is East Pakistan, it will be difficult for India to digest Pakistan and to act as a regional hegemon. So here goes their next move they soaked the seed of discontent between Pakistan and East Pakistan. They succeeded and now Bangladesh is only a small neighbor, quite easy to be used and exploited against Pakistan.

After reading the above analysis, it is easy for a man with an average brain to understand how tactfully India contained Pakistan and what are the real ambitions of India for the region in the short run and for the world in the long run. It’s about time that the powers of the world and the Muslim world should join their hands to fight and defeat India and make the world a peaceful place to live. In this regard the most important role has to be played by China. China should act responsible and should make all efforts to maintain the balance of power within the region.

The Geopolitical Significance of Mumbai Blasts and Response of the International Community

Politically speaking, if the 26 November 2008 attacks in Mumbai were carried out by militants as it appears, the Indian government had little choice, but to blame them on Pakistan. We can also see quite clearly that this was a carefully planned, well-executed attack. Given this, the Indian governemnt had two choices:

  • It would have said that the perpetrators were a domestic group and tried to carry out covert action against Pakistan. In that case, it would have been held accountable for a failure of enormous proportions in security and law enforcement. It would have been charged with being unable to protect the public.
  • It could link the attack to an outside power: Pakistan. In that case it can hold a nation-state fully responsible for the attack or has declared it unable to control its jihadists etc. Then use the crisis atmosphere to strengthen the government’s internal position by invoking nationalism. Politically this was a much preferable outcome for the Indian government, and so it was the most likely course of action.

Given the above analysis, without any doubt, India was left with no option but to start up with the blame game and through that gain sympathies of the international community. By doing so, india not only planned to get away with this huge failure of its internal security and democracy but also got another opportunity to malign the name of Pakistan. But fortunately or unfortunately, everything didn’t go that well as planned by India and the response of international community instead of going in favor of India, was more favorable for Pakistan. If we talk about the super power, America realizes and acknowledges Pakistan’s effort in eliminating terrorism. The Muslim world has always been a back bone of Pakistan and they took all measures to convince the world that Pakistan is not involved in Mumbai blasts. China, the time tested friend of Pakistan played its due role and put pressure on India to maintain peace in the region. Above all, as India has failed to come up with any solid evidence against Pakistan, it becomes clear to the whole world that the manner in which the Indians jumped to the gun and began firing on all cylinders to drag Pakistan into the mess was clearly motivated by the desire to capitalize on the Mumbai tragedy and derive political mileage from it. Moreover, India thought that by cashing the incident of Mumbai blast they can play down the Kashmir issue and call every Kashmiri, a terrorist. But all their hopes shattered, when the foreign secretary of UK, David Miliband in New Delhi opposed the Indian stand on Jan.13 and instead put pressure on India to resolve the Kashmir issue. Lastly with the unmasking of the invovlement of Col. Parasad Purohit behind the Samjhota Express tragedy, the real aim and agenda of India has also been unmasked before the world community.

Obama's Role vis-a-vis Sub-Continent

On 20th January 2009, Barack Husain Obama took oath as America's 44th president in Washington. With this begins the dawn of a new era as well as a new hope for the Muslim world particularly Pakistan. What is expected and wished of Obama is to seek a new way foward based on mutual interest and mutual respect. Keeping in mind the recent Mumbai blasts, the role of America has further enhanced in the region (sub-continent). America and the Obama administration has to realize and accept this very reality that Pakistan has been and will be a front line state against terrorism, come what may, but all it needs is time. Paksitan like many nations itself is the victim of terrorism and is doing its level best to eliminate this menace but what is required of Obama administration is to support Pakistan's claim that we are not involved in Mumbai blasts and should put pressure on New Delhi to restrain from unnececssary and unproved allegations and should emphasize on the resolution of Kashmir issue as it is the core issue of discort between Paksitan and India. America should play its due role in Sub-continent by negating the hegemonic designs of India and supporting Pakistan to fight and eliminate the very roots of terrorism. Since the Mumbai attacks India has, by design, launched premeditated, malicious and vigorous propaganda campaign to project Pakistan as the epicenter of terrorism and its government as being ineffective in eliminating the alleged training camps of terrorist outfits from the country’s soil. No one should doubt its sincerity in fighting the scourge of terrorism. It’s sacrifices in both men and material in the bloody war launched since 9/11 cannot be matched by any single country or the NATO together. It has been difficult for America to remain detached. India used USA as conduit for providing so called evidence rather than using bilateral mechanism to add up the presuure on Pakistan. It also means that India wanted to say that she is like the US, hit by foreign base terrorist groups. America and particularly Obama's administration should observe this above mentioned attitude of India and should understand that if India doesnt resist to create havoc for Pakistan on the eastern borders, Pakistan will lose focus on Afghan border which in the long run will not only have adverse effects on Pakistana and America but soon the whole world will suffer. Last but not the least, Obama's role in the present scenario, being the president of the super power, has greatly enhanced specially with regard to Sub-continent. He must make nations like India realize that those leaders around the globe who seek to sow conflict or blame their society’s ills on others should know that their people will judge them on what they can build, not what they destroy.
